It’s our 17th wedding anniversary. Woo! Technically our anniversary was yesterday Australia time, but since we got married in Washington D.C. I think this still counts as “on time”.
We celebrated by going out to dinner at a lovely local restaurant. Wooden Horse provided fabulous food in a covid-safe seeming environment. I highly recommend checking it out if you find yourself in Clayfield, QLD, AUS 🙂

We’d planned to fly back to the US less than 2 weeks from now, but instead we’re staying put in Brisbane for the foreseeable future. So with some of my endless free time, I put together a few stats from our road trip and a final map showing our whole route.
Distance Traveled: 17, 986 km / 11,176 mi
Days on the road: 50
Money spent on fuel: $2764.23 AUD / approx. $1720 USD
Most expensive fuel: $2.119 AUD/litre / approx. $5.07 USD/gal
Least expensive fuel: $1.129 AUD/litre / approx. $2.70 USD/gal
Biggest overall expense: Lodging managed to beat out fuel – average cost/night $72 AUD / $45.60 USD
Nights camping: 15 (felt like a lot more!)
PB&Js for lunch: 35 out of 50 lunches
Restaurant meals: 15 (including 2 takeaway meals) out of 150 meals
New animals seen in the wild: emus, camel, various lizards, reef shark (sadly, we’ve still only seen echidna and wombat as roadkill)
It’s very quiet around here, but we’re still keeping busy and mostly sane, taking long walks, going for runs, reading lots, and playing video games. We hope you are staying safe and well and we’d love to hear from you.
